- THE GREAT COMMANDMENT: Matthew 22:36-39 "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself."
- THE GREAT COMMISSION: Matthew 28:16-20 "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
Five purposes:
- Magnify - celebrate God's presence in worship
- Ministry - demonstrate God's love through service
- Mission - share God's Word and make disciples
- Membership - baptize them in the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit
- Maturity - teach and help disciples grow
